SAFETY IMPROVEMENT WORKS ANNOUNCED FOR A86 MURLAGGAN, EAST OF ROY BRIDGE

July 16, 2024

  • Works start Monday 22 July for six weeks.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will start £240K worth of road improvements on the A86 trunk road near Murlaggan, three miles east of Roybridge, on Monday 22 July.

The works will continue for six weeks, taking place from Monday to Friday, 7am to 7pm. No works will take place on weekends.

The works involve reinstatement and improvements to drainage at three locations in the area and embankment works following a landslip event.

To ensure the safety of the workforce, pedestrians and road users, temporary traffic signals and a 30mph speed limit will be in place. Traffic management will be removed over the weekend where possible.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Trunk road safety is paramount at BEAR Scotland and this investment from Transport Scotland will improve safety for all road users and improve the resilience of the A86.

“The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential to keep everyone safe, so we encourage all road users to follow any signs or temporary arrangements, especially speed limits, that are put in place.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible.”
