· Works start Monday 18 December 2023 for seven weeks.
BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s trunk road operating company, are to start £240k worth of road safety improvements on the A9 Trunk Road near Milton of Leys, south of Inverness.
The works will bring traffic signs and road safety barriers up to modern highway standards, making them more forgiving and effective if struck by an errant vehicle.
The works are set to commence on Monday 18 December for one week and will recommence on Monday 8 January for a further six weeks. Working hours will be 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday only.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, traffic will be controlled by a nearside lane closure and a 50mph speed restriction. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, where possible.
BEAR Scotland has engaged with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the project and share information about the temporary traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Trunk Road safety is paramount at BEAR Scotland and this investment from Transport Scotland will improve safety for all road users at this location on the A9.
“The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential to keep everyone safe, so we encourage all road users to follow any signs or temporary arrangements, especially speed limits, that are put in place.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible.” Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot or twitter @trafficscotland.
