March 28, 2025

Updated 2 April 2025: Due to contractor availability, works on the A9 between Dowally and Kindallachan will now start on Wednesday 30 April

  • Carriageway improvement works start on Wednesday 30 April for three nights

  • Overnight traffic lights with convoy

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to start essential surfacing improvements on the A9 single carriageway between Dowally and Kindallachan, to the south of Ballinluig.

Works will start at 7pm on Wednesday 30 April for three nights with works scheduled to be completed by 6am on the morning of Saturday 3 May.

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, temporary traffic lights will be in use each night with a convoy system in place to control traffic through the work site.

The traffic management will be removed during the day, however a 30mph speed restriction will be left in place due to traffic running over a temporary road surface with no road markings.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A9 between Dowally and Kindallachan will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
