The slip road exiting the eastbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Lasswade Junction will be closed on five consecutive nights beginning on Monday 12 December.
This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to make improvements to the junction with Lasswade Road, including widening the end of the slip road, re-aligning the kerb and upgrading signage.
The works will take place between the hours of 21:00 and 05:30 each night, beginning on Monday night and concluding on Saturday morning.
A diversion route will be signposted via the A720 eastbound to exit at Gilmerton Junction, the A772 Gilmerton Road and Gilmerton Station Road.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These improvements will enhance safety at the junction of the A720 off-slip and Lasswade Road.
“We’ve scheduled the works to take place at night to minimise any disruption, however our advice is to allow a few extra minutes for your journey if you do need to use this route.
“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding while we complete these improvements.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
