Essential carriageway investigations are being carried out by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, at three locations on the A86.
Works will be carried out under full road closures between 10pm and 6am at all locations. This is to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. Amnesty periods, where works will be suspended to allow traffic to be escorted through the site, will be in place at 11pm, 12am, 1am, 3am, 4am and 5am. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
A86 East of Creag Meagaidh National Nature Reserve will take place overnight from the evening of Monday 24 March until the morning of Wednesday 26 March. There is no diversion for this section of the A86.
A86 East of Laggan Wolftrax will take place from the evening of Wednesday 26 March until the morning of Friday 28 March. There is no diversion for this section of the A86.
A86 East of Laggan Hotel will take place overnight from the evening of Monday 7 April until the morning of Friday 11 April. Alongside the amnesties there will be a diversion in place.
Eastbound traffic will head down the A889 to the junction with the A9, then head north on the A9 to Kingussie junction, then onto destination.
Westbound traffic will continue the A9 past the Kingussie junction to the A889 Dalwhinnie junction, then continue the A889 to the A86 Junction then onto destination.
Access through the works sites for emergency services will be always maintained.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works will investigate the make-up of the road and reasons for its deterioration, helping our engineers design the most appropriate resurfacing projects.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these projects. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
