UPDATED on 22 November 2024: Storm Bert has delayed these works and will now take place in the 2025.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out a second phase of essential surfacing improvements on the A82 just north of Drumnadrochit with works set to get underway on Tuesday 26 November.
The project will see a section of the A82 between Drumnadrochit and Inverness resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.
Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the A82 just north of Drumnadrochit each night from 8pm to 6am between Tuesday 26 November and Thursday 5 December. To protect the workforce and members of the public, the road will be closed with amnesties offered at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 North of Drumnadrochit will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.
“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project.
“We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, X at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
