SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON A828 LEDAIG, NORTH OF CONNEL

October 9, 2024

Updated 31 October 2024 – Due to changes in the programme, works on the A828 Ledaig will now be completed by the morning of Wednesday 6 November.

  • Works begin on Monday 28 October

  • Daytime convoy from Monday 28 October for four days

  • Overnight road closure with amnesties from Sunday 3 November for three nights

Road users travelling on the A828 will benefit from an improved road surface as BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, get set to carry out resurfacing works in two stages later this month.

The improvements will involve resurfacing the road to remove defects and make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, providing a safer road surface. Works start from Monday 28 October and are due to be completed by the morning of Wednesday 6 November.

Daytime works will be carried out between the hours of 7am and 7pm each day from Monday 28 October to Thursday 31 October under a 10mph convoy with two-way temporary traffic lights in place to control traffic on approach to the work site.

The second stage of works will be carried out over night from Sunday 3 November to the morning of Wednesday 6 November between the hours of 7pm and 6am. Due to restricted road widths, the A828 will therefore be closed in both directions each night with amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely.

Outwith working hours, traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place until works are completed as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access through the work site will be maintained for emergency service vehicles at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These works will fix defects in the existing road surface and improve road markings, providing a smoother and safer carriageway for road users.

“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
