MEDIA UPDATE: SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A82 AT LETTERFINLAY

June 5, 2024

UPDATE: Due to a change in schedule the works at A82 Letterfinlay have been postponed until later in the year. Updated dates will be published once they are confirmed.

  • Works to begin on Monday 24 June

  • Road closure with amnesty

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A82 at Letterfinlay South of Laggan beginning Monday 24 June for four nights

The project will see a section of the A82 at Letterfinlay between Spean Bridge and Laggan resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the A82 at Letterfinlay for a total of four nights from Monday 24 until Friday 28 June between 19:00 and 06:00.

A timed access convoy traffic management system will be in operation on the A82 carriageway to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public.

The timed access will allow traffic to pass through the site at the following times: 09:00pm, 10:00pm, 11:00pm,12:00am, 02:00am and 04:00am.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 at Letterfinlay will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, twitter at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
