Road closure with diversion
On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A82 just South of Invermoriston beginning Sunday 30 June.
The project will see a section of the A82 between Invergarry & Invermoriston resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.
Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the A82 just south of Invermoriston for a total of nine nights from Sunday 30 June until Tuesday 16 July between 19:00 and 06:00.
The road will be closed with a diversion route in place to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public.
Traffic heading northbound will follow the A87 towards the A887 for 13.2miles. At the junction, traffic will turn right onto the A887, travelling north east for 15 miles. The diversion ends at the A887/A82 junction in Invermoriston.
Traffic heading southbound will travel along the A887 towards the A87 for 15 miles. At the junction, traffic will turn left onto the A87 and follow the road for 13.2 miles. The diversion ends at the A87/A82 junction in Invergarry.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 South of Invermoriston will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.
“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.” Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, twitter at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
