Works to begin on Monday 17 June

  • Road Closure with amnesty will be in place

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A82 at Spean Bridge, with works set to get underway on Monday 17 June.

The project will see a section of the A82 at Spean Bridge resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

Due to the nature of the works, it will be necessary to close the A82 and the A86 at Spean bridge for a total of five nights from Monday 17 June until the morning of Monday 24 June between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, to ensure the safety of our workforce and members of the public.

Amnesty periods will be in place where work on site will be temporarily suspended and vehicles will then be escorted through the site. This will operate at the following times: 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am. No works will be undertaken on Friday or Saturday nights.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 at Spean Bridge will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The overnight closures are essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
