A section of the A90 near Forfar is set to benefit from surfacing improvements starting later this month.
The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the A90 between Kirriemuir and Forfar Junctions, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.
The project is scheduled to start on Sunday 16 May with the setting up of traffic management, with the main surfacing work taking place over two weeks using 24-hour working to minimise disruption for motorists. Work are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Tuesday 25 May, subject to weather conditions. To allow this project to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner restrictions will be required on the network as follows:
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This surfacing project will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90 between the Kirriemuir and Forfar Junctions, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.
“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to be carried out using 24-hour working, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
