SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE M90 JUNCTION 5 TO JUNCTION 4 SOUTHBOUND HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED

Please be advised that the surfacing works planned for the M90 Junction 5 to Junction 4 southbound have been rescheduled due to operational reasons.

The project was set to begin on Tuesday 10 May for one night. However, due to operational reasons, the works have been rescheduled to begin at 7.30pm on Tuesday 17 May and are expected to be completed by 6.30am on Wednesday 18 May, subject to weather conditions.

Traffic management will remain the same as originally programmed, the M90 southbound will be closed just after the Junction 5 southbound off-slip (B9097 to Glenrothes). Traffic will be diverted from Junction 5 off-slip along the B996 to Station Road, Cocklaw Street and then to the Junction 4 southbound on-slip.

A wide load holding area will be put in place just before Junction 5 off-slip and wide loads will be permitted through site under escort.

All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes.

Works start Tuesday 10 May for one night

A section of the M90 southbound near Kelty is to benefit from surfacing improvements with works set to get underway from Tuesday 10 May at 7.30pm.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the southbound section of the M90 between Junction 5 and Junction 4, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is programmed to begin at 7.30pm on Tuesday 10 May and is expected to be completed by 6.30am on Wednesday 11 May, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the M90 southbound will be closed just after the Junction 5 southbound off-slip (B9097 to Glenrothes). Traffic will be diverted from Junction 5 off-slip along the B996 to Station Road, Cocklaw Street and then to the Junction 4 southbound on-slip.

A wide load holding area will be put in place just before Junction 5 off-slip and wide loads will be permitted through site under escort.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “These works will improve and strengthen this section of the M90 near Kelty, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management programmed is essential for ensuring the safety of our roadworkers as well as motorists, however we’ve planned for the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these improvements on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
