BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is planning to install new safety barriers and remove trees along approximately 2.2km of the M9 northbound between Junctions 4 and 6, including the slip roads on and off the northbound carriageway at Junction 5 Cadger’s Brae.
The works will take place over 20 nights from Sunday 2 February to Thursday 27 February, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 each night. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of workers and road users, the M9 Junction 5 northbound off-slip and on-slip will be closed on these nights. There will also be a single lane closure on the M9 northbound carriageway between Junctions 4 and 6, with a 50mph speed restriction.
Northbound traffic wishing to exit the M9 at Junction 5 will be diverted off the M9 at Junction 4 Lathallan onto the A803, continuing eastbound through Polmont and Laurieston to join the B805 at Mary Street Roundabout, then the A9 from Bog Roundabout to Cadger’s Brae roundabout. This diversion will add approximately an additional 10 minutes and 5 miles to affected journeys.
Traffic wishing to join the M9 northbound at Junction 5 will be diverted from Cadger’s Brae Roundabout onto the M9 southbound, turning at Junction 4 Lathallan to join the M9 northbound. This diversion will add approximately an additional 4 minutes and 3 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. All traffic management will be removed outside of working hours.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
