UPDATE: RESURFACING ON A86 WEST OF CREAG MEGAIDH RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY 21 NOVEMBER

November 17, 2022

  • Works due to take place tomorrow, 18 November will now be completed on Monday 21 November

  • Lane closures with 10mph convoy 7am-7pm

Please be advised that resurfacing works due to finish on the A86 west of Creag Megaidh on Friday 18th November will now be completed on Monday 21st November, due to inclement weather.

The £210,000 resurfacing project, which is being completed at Creag Megaidh by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will mean motorists will benefit from an improved road surface next month.

The improvements involve resurfacing 800m of carriageway, making it more durable and resilient, as well as providing a safer road for drivers.

The works will be completed on Monday 21st November between 7am and 7pm. There will be lane closures with a 10mph convoy system in place. Traffic management will be removed outside working hours, but a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

There will still be access to Creag Megaidh National Nature Reserve, although motorists should expect there to be a delay at times due to surfacing works going past this junction. Those wishing to enter the car park will be asked to wait in a designated area, while those leaving will be asked to wait at the exit, until it is safe.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
