24 Hour lane closures with night time convoy
BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, are continuing essential resurfacing and road marking improvements on the A9 Tomatin Dual Carriageway between Slochd and Findhorn Bridge, near Inverness.
With the completion of the first stage of road resurfacing, the next phase to lay road markings on the northbound and southbound carriageway, will restart on Monday 8 July at 7pm, lasting for five nights finishing by 6am Saturday 13 July.
The final section of the northbound carriageway to be resurfaced will then start on Monday 12 August for 15 nights and are due to be complete at 6am on Saturday 31 August. Again, work will be undertaken between 7pm and 6am each night.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, lane closures will be implemented in both directions with a convoy system in place to guide traffic through the works each night when the work is being undertaken. Due to the nature of the works lane closure will remain in place during the day and over the weekend. All traffic management will be removed between 13 July and 11 August to minimise disruption between phases of work.
During the works any traffic wishing to use the Raigbeg local access at Slochd will be guided through the traffic management and central crossover by a traffic management operative.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This significant resurfacing project on the A9 Tomatin dual carriageway is progressing well and when completed significantly enhance the driving experience for all motorists with a new road surface and brighter road markings.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
