UPGRADING SAFETY BARRIERS AND SIGNS ON THE A823(M) WESTBOUND

September 6, 2024

  • Overnight carriageway closures for three weeks commencing Sunday 22 September 2024

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland set to install a new vehicle restraint system along both verges of the westbound carriageway of the A823(M) between the M90 and Pitreavie Roundabout over three weeks, commencing on the night of Sunday 22 September.

To ensure the safety of workers and road users, the A823(M) westbound between the M90 and Pitreavie Roundabout will be closed between 20:00 and 06:00 each Sunday to Thursday night from 22 September to 12 October.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the works, directing traffic from M90 Junction 1C Admiralty to Pitreavie Roundabout, via the A985 Admiralty Road and the B980 Kings Road. This will add approximately 1 mile and 3 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders including local authorities and Police Scotland in advance of these works.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These upgrades will improve safety for users of the A823(M). It’s necessary to close the carriageway while we carry out the work, however we’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption.

“We’re grateful to road users for their patience and understanding.”

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
